This sentence shows an interesting use of 'unread' as an Adjective.
In fact, English is very creative in its use of Adjectives.

Let's see:

        Check for messages at any time.
        (which messages?)

        Check for messages, which are unread, at any time.
        (OK, thanks - now I know which messages)

        Check for unread messages at any time.

Please change the following sentences following the model.

1. They replaced the window, which was broken.
2. Don't cry over milk which has been spilt.
3. The interviewer, who was very well-travelled, was kind and 
   respectful of foreign cultures.

   highest alcoholic content.
